Motivation enjoys a good rollercoaster ride, with highs of enthusiasm and lows of “I want to quit”. We’ve all been there, and staying consistent with our goals is a journey that’s often full of obstacles.

Let’s be real – if you are not someone self-disciplined and you’re starting something new, keeping yourself motivated consistently is very difficult. Life throws curveballs, and the initial excitement of a new goal can fade. It’s easy to slip into the “I’ll to it tomorrow” mentality, and we all know how tomorrow has a way of turning into next month.
A strategy I’ve implemented to help with this is having an accountable partner. So, imagine having someone by your side supporting you and cheering you. Your partner in crime.
For instance, if you are interested in going to the gym but feel a bit insecure you can talk to a friend with a similar goal and plan to go together. This way, both of you can benefit from the situation and keep each other in check. That’s how I started my gym journey many years ago.
It’s great because you have someone to share the journey with so that you don’t feel alone. You support each other and they are the one you can call for an instant pep talk, a reality check, or a reminder of why you started.
The journey becomes instantly more fun because you have someone present in each step of the process rooting for your success. You’ll have someone to share laughs during setbacks, someone to turn challenges into adventures, making the journey feel less like a struggle and more like a joyride.
So, if you are initiating a new goal or if you feel that you are struggling with a current one, I suggest you find someone – whether a friend or a mentor – with whom you can connect. Share insights, progress together, learn from each other, and lean on one another.
This can make your journey more manageable and enjoyable.
