Could I spend a full day without my phone?
To be honest, just thinking about it makes me anxious. A whole day? That feels hardcore and unbearable. So, maybe I have a problem.
It all started three years ago when I switched to a remote job. My phone is by my side AT ALL TIMES. What if someone calls and I’m not there to answer, even just to ignore it? It’s become an extension of myself, which I’m not proud of.
This year, I want to cut back on my phone usage and I want to share with you some strategies and tips.
Firstly, where is our time being spent?
It’s crucial to identify which apps are sucking our attention and setting a daily limit. Also deleting the apps isn’t the answer. The key is to develop self-control.
Turn your notifications on silent. Notifications can be distracting and disrupt your flow of work or leisure activities.
Switching the screen to grayscale for most of the day. It’s a small change that can have a big impact on your daily life. By limiting the amount of color you see on your screen, you can reduce eye strain, improve focus, and even curb your phone addiction.
Leaving the phone in the office when going to other parts of the house. There’s no need for a phone 24/7. And by taking a break from your phone, you can focus on the present moment and enjoy the things that are happening around you.
So, starting tomorrow, I will implement all these strategies, and by summer, I will no longer be addicted to my phone. The ultimate goal is to spend a whole weekend phone-free and anxious-free.
If anyone has more tips to share, I am all ears. Please feel free to share them.
